Welcome to Slow Kook. By accessing or using our mobile application and website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before using the platform.
Slow Kook is a neighborhood food-sharing marketplace. We connect home cooks with nearby residents. You must be 18 or older to use the service. Our maximum liability is capped at amounts paid or $100 USD.
1. Definitions
- Application — the Slow Kook mobile app and website
- Company — Hamid Mohamadlou, doing business as Slow Kook, 38 Gladys St, San Francisco, CA 94110
- Service — the neighborhood food-sharing platform operated by Slow Kook
- User — any individual who accesses or uses the Service
- Cook — a User who lists and delivers homemade food through the platform
2. Acknowledgment
By using Slow Kook, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and that you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
3. About the Platform
Slow Kook is a marketplace that connects home cooks with nearby residents in San Francisco. We do not prepare, handle, or deliver food ourselves. All food is prepared and delivered by independent community members (Cooks). By using the platform, you acknowledge this.
4. User Accounts
- You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
- You may not share your account with others
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
5. Credits and Payments
- Credits are purchased through the app using Stripe for secure payment processing
- Credits are non-refundable except as required by applicable law
- Cooks earn credits for completed deliveries and may cash out to their bank account
- Slow Kook reserves the right to adjust credit pricing at any time with reasonable notice
6. Food Safety
Home cooks on Slow Kook are community members, not licensed commercial food establishments. Cooks are solely responsible for ensuring their food is safe to consume and complies with applicable laws. Slow Kook is not liable for any illness, injury, or damage resulting from food prepared or delivered through the platform.
7. SMS Communications
By providing your phone number, you consent to receive SMS notifications from Slow Kook about order updates and nearby meal availability. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Message and data rates may apply.
8. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. Slow Kook is not responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused by third-party content, products, or services.
9. Prohibited Conduct
- Listing or selling illegal, unsafe, or fraudulent food items
- Harassing, threatening, or abusing other users
- Creating fake reviews or manipulating ratings
- Using the platform for any purpose other than food sharing
- Violating any applicable local, state, or federal laws
10. Cancellations and Refunds
If a Cook cancels an order, buyers will be automatically refunded their credits. If a buyer cancels after the Cook has started preparing the food, credits may not be refunded at the Cook's discretion.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Slow Kook's total liability to you for any claims arising from use of the Service is limited to the greater of amounts you have paid to us or $100 USD. The Service is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind, including warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or freedom from malware.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. EU consumers retain any mandatory protections provided under their home country's law.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' notice via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
